Position - Data Catalog Architect/Leader Location - Remote - Plano, TX Duration - Long Term Job Description Responsible for designing and implementing data Catalog solutions that help organizations manage, organize, and discover their data assets.
This role involves a combination of technical expertise, data management knowledge, and architectural design skills.
Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications for a Data Catalog Architect.
Designing the overall architecture and framework of the data catalog solution, considering the organization's data management goals, data governance requirements, and user needs.
Metadata Management:
1.
Defining and implementing metadata standards, structures, and taxonomies to ensure consistent and meaningful metadata across the data catalog.
2.
Establishing processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from various data sources.
Integration and Data Lineage:
1.
Collaborating with data integration teams to ensure seamless integration of data sources with the catalog.
2.
Establishing data lineage capabilities to track the origin, transformations, and usage of data throughout its lifecycle.
Data Governance and Data Policies:
1.
Working with data governance teams to align the data catalog with organizational data governance policies.
2.
Implementing mechanisms to enforce data policies, access controls, and data security within the catalog.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
1.
Collaborating with data users, data stewards, data scientists, and IT teams to understand their requirements and ensure the data catalog meets their needs.
2.
Facilitating user training and providing ongoing support.
Performance Optimization:
1.
Optimizing the performance and scalability of the data catalog solution, considering factors such as data volume, user concurrency, and search capabilities.

Monitoring and fine-tuning the catalog's performance as needed.
Education:
1.
A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, data management, or a related field is typically required.
2.
Additional certifications in data management, data architecture, or related areas are advantageous.
3.
8 years of experience in data management, data governance, or related roles, with a focus on metadata management and data catalog solutions.
4.
Experience in architecting and implementing data catalog systems is highly desirable.
5.
At least 3 Informatica EDC & Axon implementations.
6.
Knowledge of industry-leading data quality practices.
Data Management Expertise:
1.
Strong knowledge of data management principles, data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data integration practices.
2.
Understanding of data quality, data classification, and data lineage concepts.
3.
Proficiency in data catalog tools and platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica EDC & Axon, or Apache Atlas.
4.
Experience with SQL, data modeling, scripting languages (Python, R), and data storage technologies (relational databases, data lakes, cloud platforms).
5.
Ability to design scalable and flexible data catalog architectures that can accommodate diverse data sources, integration patterns, and user requirements.
6.
Familiarity with data catalog best practices, design patterns and industry standards.
7.
Understanding of data governance principles, data stewardship workflows, and regulatory compliance (e.
g.
, GDPR, CCPA).
8.
Familiarity with data privacy, data security, and access control mechanisms.
Communication and Collaboration:
