Research and Development Assistant Scientist


Job Description:
Key
Responsibilities:
onsiteSupport reformulation efforts across multiple product platforms.
Apply technical foundation of ingredient functionality and interactions to identify risks early and provide solutions to mitigate.
Provide technical and business risk assessment and perspectives related to product/process changes to influence project scopes and timelines.
Understand application of consumer research and experimental design to leverage across all projects.
Conduct and document product development lab work, including development of bench top prototypes, implementation and maintenance of stability testing, and scale-ups for commercialization.
Perform basic economic evaluations on ingredients, ingredient suppliers, and product formulations.
Provide product formulation support by accurately preparing laboratory food products and submitting samples for analytical and sensory evaluation.
Create finished product documents and specifications; ensure products are safe, stable, and legal.
Develop and lead research activities, works safely and according to all safety and quality procedures and policies, and proactively contributes to safety observations.
Collect data and analyze using statistical methods.
Leverage external and internal experts for key analytical and sensory research.
Requirements:
BS in food/dairy science or other related applied science/engineering/technology disciplines5 - 6 yearsexperience with companyKnowledge in corn-based products and Ready-to-Eat Cereals.
Strong product development skills with knowledge of ingredient functionality.
Skilled in analytical testing methods and application.
Ability to create and implement Design of Experiments.
Can influence across R&D functions and business partners during accelerated product development life cycles that include prototype development, product optimization, and production start-up.
Ability to function effectively in stressful, fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers.
Ability and interest to work in laboratory, pilot plant and manufacturing scale environments.
Positive, can do attitude.
Willingness to travel up to 20%Education:
Bachelors Degree Recommended Skills Applied Science Data Collection Design Of Experiments Economy Leadership Maintenance Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
